⭐ Specialty Needle Tool — What It Is & Why It Exists

Specialty Needle Tool

These needle tools are precision finishing tools designed for paper bead makers who use split‑pin style bead rollers.
It’s made from a 1/16‑inch solid stainless steel pin, 2 inches long, strong, straight, and perfectly sized to match the smallest bead‑roller core.

What it’s used for

When you roll a bead on a split pin (cotter pin), the end of the paper strip gets tucked inside the bead. That tucked end often:

  • - bends
  • - curls
  • - sticks up
  • - refuses to sit flat inside the hole

The needle tool fixes that.
    You use it to:
  • - straighten the tucked end of the paper strip
  • - push it cleanly into the center hole
  • - shape the inside of the bead so it conforms to the core
  • - prevent lifting during glazing
  • - clean out the bead hole if needed
  • - poke, guide, and adjust tiny details during bead finishing
It’s a small tool, but it makes a big difference in the final quality of your beads.

Why it exists
Split‑pin and adustable length paper bead rollers create beautiful beads — but they also make the end of the paper sit in the center of the inside the bead. This tool can be used to clean that up.

It’s the same finishing step Julie uses in her own bead‑making workflow, now available as a standalone tool.

Other uses Because it’s a strong, stainless‑steel poky tool, it’s also handy for:

  • - clearing glaze drips
  • - opening clogged bead holes
  • - guiding paper edges
  • - general craft poking and adjusting
  • - tiny detail work in mixed media

Why it’s priced like a single bead roller
It’s made from the same high‑quality stainless steel, requires the same precision, and is just as essential to the bead‑making process. This is not a sewing needle or a hobby needle — it’s a purpose‑built finishing tool.

Random Quick Tip!

Weaving in Ends
Use a metal yarn needle for weaving in your ends when knitting and crocheting. The needle is sturdy and you can split strands of yarn when you weave your end in and go back and forth with your weaving stitches. This makes the end more secure in your work. Also make sure to weave your end in the back of your work where it will be less noticeable. If weaving in crochet thread ends, use a metal tapestry needle for ease in working with the smaller size of the thread.
