Altered Filet Bookmark

Altered Filet Bookmark Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This bookmark is made in a way where you can weave ribbons through it. Or you can sew beads on it for a very festive look. You can complete it in an evening if you are comfortable with crocheting with thread.

Materials Needed
Small amount white size 10 crochet cotton
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10 sc = 1"
Finished Size: 7½"x1½"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
ROW 1: Ch13. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2: Dc in next sc. Ch3. Sk next 3 sc. Dc in next sc. Ch1. Sk next sc. Dc in next sc. Ch3. Sk next 3 sc. Dc in next sc and in last sc. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Dc in next dc. Ch1. Dc in next dc. Ch3. Dc in next dc. Dc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 4: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Dc in next dc. Ch1. Dc in next dc. Ch3. Dc in next dc. Dc in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW 5: Sc in each of the first 2 dc. Sc in each of the next 3 chs. Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch. Sc in next dc. Sc in each of the next 3 chs. Sc in next dc. Sc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 6- 29: Repeat rows 2-5 six times more. At the end of ROW 29, ch1, turn, instead of ch3, turn.

Perimeter
Sc in each of the first 2 sc. Ch1. Sk next 3 sc. 3dc in next sc. Ch5. Sk next sc. 3dc in next dc. Ch1. Sk next 3 sc. Sc in each of the next 2 sc.
Work the following down the left side of the bookmark. 2sc in each dc row and 1sc in each sc row. At the end of the left side. Ch2. Turn corner.
Sc in each of the first 2 sc. Ch1. Sk next 3 sc. 3dc in next sc. Ch5. Sk next sc. 3dc in next sc. Ch1. Sk next 3 sc.
Sc in each of the next 2 sc. Ch2, turn corner.
Work the following up the right side of the bookmark. 2sc in each dc row and 1 sc in each sc row. When you get back to where you started the perimeter, join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off, weave ends into back of work. Starch to keep shape if desired.
