Teddy Bear Dress

The dress on this bear can be made with any color you choose to go great in any season. But what a cute look it is for the Holidays! The last 4 rounds of the skirt are worked in such a manner as to make them look woven but they are not. It is just the way the stitches are done.

Materials Needed:
Caron Christmas Glitter yarn in Ombre, red and white.
Jointed Teddy Bear 10" long Bought from Wal-Mart in Craft Department
Size H aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle

Yarn Thickness 4mm
Gauge: 4sc=1"
Finished Size: Fits a 10" tall bear.
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
With Ombre yarn.

ROW 1: Ch 25. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2: Sk first sc. 1Dc in each of the next 2sc. 2dc in each of the next 6 sc. 1Dc in each of the next 6 sc. 2sc in each of the next 6 sc. 1Dc in each of the last 3 sc. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Dc in first dc. 2dc in each of the next 2 dc. Sk the next 12 dc. 2dc in each of the next 6 dc. Sk the next 12 dc. 2dc in each of the last 3 dc. Fasten off Ombre and weave ends into work. Skirt is worked in rounds.

RND 1: Join white in top of ch3. Ch3, 2dc in same sp as joining. 3dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: *Ch5, sk next st. sc in next st. Rep from * around ending with a slst in first ch of ch5. Fasten off White.

RND 3: Join ombre in first skipped st in front of ch5 lp. *Ch5. Sc in next skipped st in back of ch 5 lp. Ch5, sc in next skipped st in front of ch5 lp. Rep from * around. End with a slst to first ch of ch5. Fasten off ombre.

RND 4: Join white in first ch5 lp of RND 2. Ch5. *Sc in next ch 5 lp of rnd 2. Ch5. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5. Fasten off white.

RND 5: Join Ombre in first ch5 lp of rnd 3. Ch5. *sc in next ch 5 lp of rnd 3 in front of ch5 lp of rnd 4. Ch5. Sc in next ch5 lp of rnd 3 in back of ch5 lp of rnd 4. Ch5. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5. Fasten off ombre.

RND 6: Join white in ch5 lp of rnd 4. *Sc in next ch 5 lp of rnd 4. Ch5. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5. Fasten off white.

RND 7: Join red in first ch 5 lp of rnd 5. Ch5. *sc in next ch 5 lp of rnd 3 in front of ch5 lp of rnd 4. Ch5. Sc in next ch5 lp of rnd 3 in back of ch5 lp of rnd 4. Ch5. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5. Fasten off red.

RND 8: Join white in ch5 lp of rnd 6. *Sc in next ch 5 lp of rnd 7. Ch5. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5. Fasten off white.

Tie for back. With white. Ch 40. Fasten off. Weave ends into work. and weave through the end dc of Row 2 while on bear on back. Tie into bow.

Random Quick Tip!

Glue Basting Seams
If you want presicion piecing, without using pins, you can apply tiny dots of glue about a half inch apart along inside the 1/4 inch seam allowance, place your other piece on the glue and dry with a hot dry iron to set the glue. I would use only glue meant for this purpose or Elmer's School glue. These will wash out completely when your quilt is washed. Also you are applying the glue in the seam allowance and because you are using washable glue, your needle, in your machine will not gum up. This is the way I piece my quilts and have never had a problem. The tiny dots of glue, only need to be about the size of a head of a metal pin. Very tiny. This is enough to hold the pieces together while being sewn on the sewing machine.
