Pearl Beaded Headband

Pearl Beaded Headband

Designed by Julie A Bolduc

This beaded, crocheted headband is made by working in rows and then the sides of the rows are stitched together to form a long tube which is then slipped over a plain white plastic head band. This could be a beautiful part of a bride's veil!

Materials Needed
DMC #8 Perle Cotton thread in the color perle. Color number 712. 1 10g ball.
405 pearl beads size 4mm
1 white plain plastic head band .5" wide, for an adult head
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry needle thin enough to fit through beads.

Yarn Thickness: 8thread
Gauge: 12r x 11sc = 1" x 1"
Finished Size: Crochet piece is 1" by 13"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
String all beads onto thread
ROW 1: Ch12. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch1, turn.

ROW 2: Sc in each of the first 3 sc. Insert hook in next st, bring up a bead, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, 5 times. Sc in each of the last 3 sc. Ch1, turn.

ROW 3: Sc in each st across. Ch1, turn.

ROW 4-163: Repeat Rows 2 &3. Fasten off, leaving a 1 yard length of thread for finishing. Weave other end into back of work.

Fold the 2 sides together to meet in the center at the end where you have your finishing thread, use a lacing stitch to sew this end flat to close one end of the long tube you are about to make. Using a lacing stitch, stitch the sides together at the end of each row to form a long thin tube. Slip the headband into the tube so the beads are on the top. Stitch the other end closed. Weave end in.

NOTE: I found that this thread is actually thinner than size 10 crochet thread. It is actually more like size 20 thread. You can get it from The thread, pearls and plastic headband, are available at: .
