Simple Knit/Cro Sachet

This sachet or pincushion is made by combining knitting with crochet. It is a very basic pattern that would be ideal for a beginner! Here is another idea you can do with this pattern. You could make it with cotton yarn, stuff some bars of soap inside, and use it as a bath scrubber. But of course you may just want to leave one side open and put in a drawstring so you can change the soap.

Materials Needed
Small amount of two different colors of Red Heart Worsted weight acrylic yarn. Raspberry and White were used in the example.
A pair of size 5mm knitting needles
Size G/6 or 4mm aluminum crochet hook.
Yarn needle
Yarn scraps for stuffing

Yarn Thickness 4mm
Gauge: 4sts=1" 6rows=1"
Finished Size: 5"x5"
Skill Level: Beginner in knit & crochet

Abbreviations Used: [k = Knit] [p =Purl]

NOTE: You should already know how to do basic knitting to be able to do this pattern.

Instructions
Knitting part first. :)
Front
ROW 1-4: Cast on 16 stitches and work the stockinette stitch for 4 rows.

ROW 5: k7, p2, k7.

ROW 6: p6, k4, p6.

ROW 7: k5, p6, k5.

ROW 8: p4, k8, p4.

ROW 9: k4, p3, k2, p3, k4.

ROW 10: p4, k2, p4, k2, p4.

ROW 11: k4, p2, k4, p2, k4.

ROW 12: p4, k2, p4, k2, p4.

ROW 13: k4, p2, k4, p2, k4.

ROW 14: p4, k3, p2, k3, p4.

ROW 15: k4, p8, k4.

ROW 16: p5, k6, p5.

ROW 17: k6, p4, k6.

ROW 18: p7, k2, p7.

ROW 19-22: Work in the stockinette stitch to the end. But bind off on last row.

Back
Cast on 16 stitches and work in the stockinette Stitch for 22 rows. Bind off.

Crochet Part
Put both pieces together so the backs are facing each other and the first and last rows line up.

RND 1: Join white in any of the 4 corners and work a single row of single crochet around the perimeter. Joining both pieces together to form a pillow. Work 3 sc in each corner. But stuff with scraps of yarn or potpourrie before closing.

RND 2: Work a row of reverse sc all around in each stitch. Fasten off and weave all ends into work.
