Double Thick Oval Potholder

This potholder works better after it has been washed and dried in the dryer. It is made with 2 strands of cotton yarn held together throughout the pattern.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight cotton yarn in 2 colors.
Size J/10 6mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 3mm each
Gauge: 3dc=1"
Finished Size: 8" x8"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: Hold both strands of yarn together throughout. You will be working around the starting chain. Ch10. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across but work 5 sc in last ch to turn the corner. Sc in each of the next 8 sts on opposite side of starting chain. Work 5 sc in last ch. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 9 sc. 2hdc in each of the next 3 sc. Hdc in each of the next 10 sc. 2hdc in each of the next 3 sc. Hdc in next sc. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 3: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 10hdc. 2sc in each of the next 4 hdc. Sc in each of the next 11 hdc. 2sc in each of the next 4 hdc. Sc in next hdc. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 4: Ch2, hdc in each of the next 9 sc. 2hdc in next sc, hdc in each of the next 2 sc 3 times. 2hdc in next sc. Hdc in each of the next 10 sc. 2hdc in next sc, hdc in each of the next 2 sc 3 times. 2hdc in next sc. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 5: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 12 hdc. 2sc in next hdc, sc in each of the next 3 hdc, twice. 2sc in next hdc. Sc in each of the next 15 hdc. 2sc in next hdc, sc in each of the next 3hdc twice. 2sc in next hdc. Sc in each of the next 2 hdc. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 6: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 12 sc. 2hdc in next sc, hdc in each of the next 3 sc, 3 times. 2hdc in next st. Hdc in each of the next 14 sc. 2hdc in next sc, hdc in each of the next 3sc, 3 times. 2hdc in next sc. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 7: Ch1. Slst in each st around. Join w/slst to first slst. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.
