Half Moon Potholder

Half Moon Potholder Designed By Julie A Bolduc

This potholder is shaped like a half moon, hence the name. It is fast and easy to make and if you made it in a grey color, it would look great in your kitchen for halloween!

Materials Needed:
One ball each of two colors Peaches & Creme Cotton Worsted Weight Yarn. Will make a pair.
Cream and Tea Rose
Size H aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle

Gauge: Center is 2"
Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Finished Size: =9"long 4½"wide
Skill Level: Beginner

Special Stitch Used
Beg Cluster (begcl): Ch2, *yo, insert hook in stitch indicated, draw up a lp, yo and pull yarn through 2 lps on hook rep from * one more time. Yo and draw yarn through all 3 lps on hook. Ch1 to close.

Cluster (cl): *Yo, insert hook in stitch indicated, draw up a lp, yo and pull yarn through 2 lps on hook rep from * 2 more times. Yo and draw yarn through all 4 lps on hook. Ch1 to close.

Instructions
With Cream
Ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring.
RND 1: Ch4. Cl in ring. Ch1. *Dc in ring ch1. Cl in ring ch1. Rep from * 4 times more. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4.

RND 2: Slst into the first ch1 sp. Beg cl in same sp. *Dc in top of cl. Ch1. Cl in next ch1 sp, ch1 twice. Dc in top of next cl. Ch1. Rep from * around. Cl in last ch1 sp, ch1, dc in last cl. Ch1. Join w/slst to top of begcl.

RND 3: Ch4. *Cl in next ch1 sp, ch1 twice. Dc in top of next cl. Ch1. Cl in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Dc in next cl. Ch1. Rep from * around. Cl in last ch1 sp. Ch1. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4. Fasten off cream.

RND 4: Join tea rose in first ch1 sp of round 3 just before the first cl made in round 3. Beg cl in same sp. 3dc in next ch1 sp. *Cl, ch1, in each of the next 4 ch1 sps. 3dc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Cl in each of the last 3 ch1 sps. Join w/slst to top of beg cl.

RND 5: Slst into the first ch1 sp. Ch3, dc in same sp. Dc in each of the next 3 dc, 2dc in next ch1 sp. *Cl, ch1, in next ch1 sp twice, cl in next ch1 sp. 2dc in next ch1 sp. dc in each of the next 3 dc. 2dc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Cl, ch1, in next ch1 sp twice, cl in next ch1 sp Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off Tea Rose.

RND 6: Join cream in any stitch. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off cream. Weave all ends into back of work.

Joining
Fold Circle in half so the back is to the inside. Lay the circle down in front of you so the flat side is toward you. Look at the bottom right corner of the half circle. This is where you will be starting the edging. Join the Tea rose in the two stitche working through all lps. You will be skipping the two most end stitches where the fold is. Start with the next st to the left of these two stitches and join the sides together in the following way.

Ch4, sk next st. Sc in next st. Rep from beg across. Fasten off tea rose.
Join cream in skipped stitch to the left of where you started. working in front of the ch 4 lp.
Ch4. *Now fold the ch4 lp to the front toward you and sc in the next skipped st working behind the ch 4 lp. Ch4, sc in next sk st working in front of the ch4 lp. Rep from * across. Ch1. Fasten off. Weave ends into work.
