Simple Shells Pencil Cup

This crocheted pencil cup is fast and easy to make and great for a beginner who is just starting to work with shells. And when you are done crocheting it, you just slip it over the cup. It is removable so it can be washed.
Materials Needed
Red Heart Sport in Limeade #0652
Red Heart Sport in White #0001
Size G/6 or 4mm aluminum crochet hook
Empty Crystal Light Container, small
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 5dc=1"
Finished Size: 3" by 5"
Skill Level: Beginner
Instructions
RND 1: w/green. Ch6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 17dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (18dc)
RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (36dc)
RND 3: Ch1. Working around back post, just under lps of each st around, sc in each st around. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 4: Ch1. Sk 2 sc. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 sc. *Sc in next sc. Sk next sc. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 5: Ch3, 4dc in same st as slst. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 2 dc. *5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 6: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 4dc. Hdc in next sc. *Sc in each of the next 5 dc. Hdc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off green.
RND 7: Join white in any hdc. Ch1. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 8: Ch3, 4dc in same st as slst. Sk 2 sc. Sc in next sc. Sk 2 sc. *5dc in next sc. Sk next sc. Sc in next sc. Sk 2 sc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 9: Slst in each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. Sk 2 dc. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. *Sc in next dc. Sk next 2 dc. 5dc in next sc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.
RND 10: Ch3. 4dc in same st as slst. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 2 dc. *5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Sk 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 11: Repeat RND 9.
RND 12: Repeat RND 6. Fasten off white.
RND 13: Join green in any hdc. Ch1. Sc in each st around. Join
w/slst to ch1.
RND 14: Repeat RND 8.
RND 15: Repeat RND 9.
RND 16: Repeat RND 6. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
Just slip the whole thing on the cup and glue in place at rim with hot glue if desired. Or you can leave it unglued so you can remove it and wash it when it gets dirty.

Storing Dice or Playing CardsIf you play cards or dice games alot, you can make a soap saver and use it to keep your cards and dice in. You may want to use a bigger hook to make it bigger so the dice and cards will fit. You can also use the soap saver to hold marbles. This would also make a great double gift for any lucky kid. Just be sure the recipient is beyond the "in the mouth with everything age"
