Glittery Celtic Ball Ornament

This ornament is made with motifs which are stitched together as they are made. Then sequins and beads are added as an embellishment.
Materials Needed
Size 10 crochet cotton in white
Size 7 steel crochet hook
1 Satin covered ball in red. 2½" diam
8 - 8mm red sequins
64 - 6mm gold sequins
72 red seed beads
72 sequin pins
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc = 1"
Finished Size: 2½" diam

Instructions
Motif 1
RND 1: First Motif: Ch12. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch1. Sc in ring. Ch11. *2sc in ring. Ch11. Rep from * 2 times more. Sc in ring. Join w/slst to first sc.
RND 2: Ch1. (4sc, ch3, 4sc, ch5, 4sc, ch3, 4sc in next ch11 lp. Sc in next sc.) *Sc in next sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
Motif 2:
RND 1: Rep rnd 1 of Motif 1.
RND 2: Ch1. 4sc, ch3, 4sc in next ch11 lp. Ch2, pick up first motif so the right side is facing away from you. Slst to any of the ch5 lps. Ch2. 4sc, ch3, 4sc back on the ch11 lp. Sc in each of the next 2 sc. 4sc, ch3, 4sc, ch2, slst in next ch5 lp of previous motif, ch2, 4sc back in ch11 lp, ch3, 4sc in same lp. Sc in each of the next 2 sc. (4sc, ch3, 4sc, ch5, 4sc, ch3, 4sc in next ch11 lp.) Sc in each of the next 2 sc. Rep bet () once. Sc in next sc. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
Motif 3:
RND 1&2: Repeat as you did for the 2nd motif joining motif 3 to motif 2. Make sure the 1st and 2nd motif is on the back side with the right side of it facing away from you.
Motif 4:
RND 1&2 Repeat as you did for the previous motif making sure the first 3 motifs are on the back side facing away from you. Then join the first motif to the 4th motif on the last 2 ch5 lps to the unworked ch5 lps on the first motif to form a tube. Set aside.
Motif 5:
RND 1: Rep rnd 1 of first motif.
RND 2: Ch1. 4sc, ch3, 4sc in next ch11 lp. Ch2. Now you will join to the ch5 joints on the tube. Slst on the right side lp of the joint then the left side lp of the joint. Ch2. 4sc, ch3, 4sc back on the ch11 lp. (Sc in each of the next 2 sc. 4sc, ch3, 4sc, ch2, join to the next joint the same way as before. Ch2. 4sc, ch3, 4sc in same ch11 lp.) Rep bet () 2 times more. Sc in next sc. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
Motif 6: Before closing, slip ornament into work making sure to center the ch12 lp of the 5th motif over the hanger. Repeat motif 5.
Finishing:
Insert a red bead, gold sequin and pin into every ch3 lp on every motif.
Insert a red bead, red sequin and pin into the center of every ch5 lp joint.
