Spiral Ball Ornament

Spiral Ball Ornament Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This ball ornament is made with a spiral on it. You could make a whole bunch of these with white satin balls and use thread colors that would match a parties theme. Such as theme colors for a wedding. Then you could bunch them up into a display with silk flowers and greenery.

Materials Needed:
1 2½"diameter white satin covered christmas ornament.
Size 10 crochet cotton. Southmaid in Pink was used.
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc=1"
Finished Size: 2½" diam
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: Ch12, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3,dc in same ch as slst. Ch 2. Sc in next ch. *2dc in next ch. Ch2. Sc in next ch. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch4. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 3: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch6. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 4: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch8. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 5-7: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch10. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 8: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch8. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round. Slip ball into crochet. Make sure the starting ring is over the hanger at the top of the ball.

RND 9: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch6. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 10: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch4. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 11: Sc in next dc. 2dc in ch2 sp. Ch4. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch2. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first dc of round.

RND 12: Sc in next dc. Ch1. *Sk next sc & dc. Sc in next dc. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into work.

Latch Hook Rug Making From Scraps
If you are into rug making, you could use your ends as rug pieces. Use your latch hook and get some blank canvas and everytime you finish a project with worsted weight yarn, put the pieces right into the rug canvas as you get them. You can trim them to the right length after they are added to your rug. What a fun rug you would have after you are done!
