Starry Ball Ornament

Starry Ball Ornament Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This ball ornament is made with 2 stars put together at the points as the last round is worked on the 2nd star. It is fun, easy and fast to make.

Materials Needed
2¼" diam satin covered ball in color of choice
Size 10 crochet cotton in color of choice
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc = 1"
Finished Size: 2¼" diam
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: First Star. Ch12. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 29dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Ch7. Sk 2 dc. *Dc in next dc, ch4, sk 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch7.

RND 3: Slst into the next ch4 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp. (Ch2. Sc in next ch4 sp, ch2.) *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch4 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4: Slst into each of the next 2dc. Slst into the next ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp. (Ch3, sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3.) *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 5: Slst into each of the next 2 dc. Slst into the next ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp. (Ch4. Sk next ch3 sp. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch4.) *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off & weave ends into back of work. Set aside.

RND 1-4: Rep rnds 1- 4 of first star.

RND 5: Slst into each of the next 2dc. Slst into the next ch2sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch1, pick up first star, line up any ch2 sp of first star to where you are, making sure the wrong sides are facing each other, slst in ch2 sp of first star, ch1, 3dc in same ch2 sp of 2nd star. Ch4. Sk next ch3 sp, sc in next ch3 sp. Ch4. *3dc, ch1 in next ch2 sp, slst in next ch2 sp on 1st star. Ch1. 3dc in same ch2 sp of 2nd star. Ch4. Sk next ch3 sp. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch4. Rep from * around. Insert ball into work before finishing the last 2 joints. Make sure the ornament's hanger is centered in one of the stars. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Stringing Beads Before Stitching
If you crochet with beads, put the beads in a shallow dish to make it easier to scoop them up one or two at a time. When working with beads, most of the time you will need to put the beads onto the thread or yarn first before starting with crocheting.
