Popcorn Candy Dish

This crocheted candy dish is made from a recycled whipped topping container. It is fast and easy to make and would look great in any combination of colors. You can use your scraps for this project!

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in a multi color
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in a solid dark color
Clean empty 8oz plastic whipped topping container
Size H/8 or 6mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: 6" diam by 3" high
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Special Stitches
Beg Popcorn: Ch3, 4dc in same st as slst. Take hook out of loop on hook, insert hook in top of ch3 and then back into dropped loop, pull dropped loop through top of ch3 to close popcorn.
Popcorn: 5dc in stitch indicated, take hook out of loop and insert hook in first dc, insert hook back into dropped loop and pull loop through first dc to close popcorn.
Instructions
RND 1: With multi color yarn, ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 15 dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 3: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Dc in next dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 4: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in next dc. 2sc in next dc. *Sc in each of the next 2 dc. 2sc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.
RND 5: Ch3, working in back loop only for this round only, dc in each sc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 6: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in each dc around. Drop multi but do not cut, join solid color and join w/slst to first sc.
RND 7: Beg pop in same st as slst. Ch1. Sk 1 sc. *Popcorn in next sc. Ch1. Sk next sc. Rep from * around. Drop solid color, pick up multi, join w/slst to beg pop.
RND 8: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in next ch1 sp. *Sc in next popcorn. Sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Drop multi, pick up solid, join w/slst to first sc.
RND 9: Beg pop in same st as slst. Ch1. Sk 1 sc. *Popcorn in next sc. Ch1. Sk next sc. Rep from * around. Drop solid color, pick up multi, join w/slst to beg pop. Fasten off solid color.
RND 10: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in next ch1 sp. *Sc in next popcorn. Sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Drop multi, pick up solid, join w/slst to first sc.
RND 11: Ch2, dc in same st as slst. Dc in each sc around. Join w/slst to first dc.
RND 12: Ch1, sc in same st as slst. Sc in each dc around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.
Slip work over plastic container and line up round 12 with the rim of the container, hot glue in place.
