Freedom Waves Wall Hanging

This wall hanging is perfect for the 4th of July. Also if you have a room in your house with a red white and blue color scheme, this would be great in there. The background is a star in a pentagon.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in red white and blue
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
2 American Flags on little poles, 4"x6" available at Wal-Mart
1½" wide red white and blue grosgrain ribbon 31" long
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Bone ring for a hanger, optional

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: 10" w not including flags
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: With white, ch5, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 19 dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3 dc. Ch4. *Dc in each of the next 4 dc. Ch4. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 3: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3 dc. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch4 sp. *Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch4 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 6 dc. (Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3dc.) *Dc in each of the next 7 dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 5: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 5 dc. (Ch3. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch2. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sk next dc. Dc in each of the next 2dc.) *Dc in each of the next 6 dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 6: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 4dc. (Ch3. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc.) *Dc in each of the next 5 dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 7: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3 dcx. (ch3, sc in next ch3 sp, 4 times. Ch3. Sk next dc.) *Dc in each of the next 4dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Jon w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 8: Slst into the next dc. Ch3. Dc in next dc. (ch3, sc in next ch3 sp, 5 times. Ch3. Sk next dc.) *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep bet ()once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off white.

RND 9: Join red in same st as slst. Sc in next dc. (3sc in enxt ch3 sp, sc in next sc, 5 times. 3sc in next ch3 sp.) * Sc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off red.

RND 10: Join blue in same st as slst. 2sc in next sc. (Sc in each of the next 23 sc.) *2sc in each of the next 2 sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off blue and weave all ends into back of work.

Finishing Flags: Stick both flags crossing them, through the ch4 sp of round 2. Then stick them back through ch3 spaces of round 6 as shown in picture.

Ribbon: Tie ribbon around both flags just above where they cross at round 2. Tie into a bow. Trim ends of ribbon to be even.
