June Square

This granny square is another in a series of squares named for the 12 months of the year. It is fast and easy to make and takes advantage of one of my favorite stitches, the bobble stitch.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in red, white and blue
Size H/8 aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: 6" x 6"
Skill Level: Beginner

Special Stitch: Bobble: Yo, insert hook in next sp, yo, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, three times. Yo, pull through all lps on hook.

Instructions
RND 1: Ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch2. 2Hdc in ring. Ch2. *3hdc in ring. Ch2. Rep from * 2 times more. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 2: Ch4. Sk next hdc. Dc in next hdc. Ch1. Dc, ch3, dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1. *Dc in next hdc. Ch1. Sk next hdc. Dc in next hdc. Dc, ch3, dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4. Fasten off blue.

RND 3: Join white in first ch1 sp after slst. Ch3. Yo, insert hook in same sp, yo, pull up a lp, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, twice. Yo, pull through all lps on hook. (Ch1. Dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Bobble, dc, ch3, dc, bobble in ch3 corner sp. Ch1. Dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1.) *Bobble in next ch1 sp. Rep bet () once. rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of first bobble.

RND 4: Ch1. (Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in next bobble. Sc in next dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch3 corner sp. Sc in next dc. Sc in next bobble. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch1 sp.) *Sc in next bobble. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off white.

RND 5: Join red in same st as slst. Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 7 sc. (2hdc, ch2, 2hdc in next ch2 corner sp. Hdc in each of the next 7 sc.) *Hdc in each of the next 8 sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 6: Ch1. Sc in each of the next 9 hdc. (Sc, ch2, sc in next ch2 corner sp. Sc in each of the next 9 hdc.) *Sc in each of the next 10 hdc. Rep bet ()once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off. Weave all ends into back of work.
