Diamond Center Granny Square

Diamond Center Granny Square

This granny square has a small diamond in the center which give this square it's name! It is a fairly fast and easy square to make and it would be great in an afghan made up of a bunch of these squares.

Materials Needed
Small amount worsted weight acrylic yarn. Excellence by Nomis in Copen Blue was used in the example
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle

Yarn Thickness 3mm
Gauge: 5sc=1"
Finished Size: 6" x 6"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: Ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 2dc in ring. Ch2. *3dc in ring. Ch2. Rep from * 2 times more. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Slst to the first ch2 sp. Sc in same sp. Ch4. Sc in same sp. Ch5. *Sc, ch4, sc in next ch2 sp. Ch5. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 3: Slst into the first ch4 lp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same lp. Sc, ch5, sc in next ch5 sp. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch4 lp. Sc, ch5, sc in next ch5 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4: Slst to the next ch2 sp. Sc in same sp. Ch3, sc in same sp. Ch3. 4dc, ch2, 4dc in next ch5 lp. Ch3. *Sc, ch3, sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. 4dc, ch2, 4dc in next ch5 lp. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 5: Slst into the next ch3 sp. Sc in same sp. 3dc in next ch3 sp. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 corner sp. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 3dc in next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. 3dc in next ch3 sp. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 corner sp. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 3dc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 6: Ch2. Hdc in each of the next 10 dc. 3hdc, ch2, 3hdc in next ch2 corner sp. Hdc in each of the next 10 dc. *Hdc in next 11 dc. 3hdc, ch2, 3hdc in next ch2 corner sp. Hdc in each of the next 10 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch2. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work.
