Carrabassett Coaster

 Carrabassett Coaster

Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This coaster design uses this month's featured stitch Waffle Variation and then is edged with a contrasting color. The name of this coaster derives from the river which flows by Sugarloaf Mountain here in Maine. I could not come up with a better name for it so when this happens, I will use towns, rivers, and mountains in Maine to name crochet items I design.

Edging
Tie on pink thread in the top left hand corner on the side around the post of the last dc in the row. Now work down the left side.

Not on the starting ch but between the stitches. |**|**| Where the rods are is where to insert your hook. The stars are the stiches and the rods are the space between the stitches. You will do this across the bottom. You should end up with 16 ch3 sp across the bottom. Ch3 and sc in first row up the right side. Ch3, sc in each row up right side as for the left side. You should have 16 ch3 sps on the left and right sides. Plus one on each corner. Now repeat across the top as for across the bottom. Making sure to make a ch3 sp around the top right corner as well as you did for the other corners. When you get back to where you started, ch3 and sc in first ch of the first ch3.

ROW 2: Sc in first ch3sp. Ch3. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3, Rep from *around. Join w/s/st to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into work.
