Elegant Pineapple Bookmark

This elegant bookmark is just the right look for that special book you may have. It would also make a great gift to give a new bride done in a color to coordinate with her wedding. Or you can just in make it for yourself and put it in your favorite book such as the family Bible.

Materials Needed
Small amount DMC Traditions Crochet Cotton size 10. Lavender.
Size 6 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge 10sc=1"
Finished Size: 11"x2"
Skill Level Intermediate

Instructions
Tail: Ch73. Dc in 8th ch from hook. *Ch2. Sk 2 chs. Dc in next ch. Rep from * across. You should end with a dc in the last ch.

Pineapple:
ROW 1: Ch3. Work 7dc in end space. Dc in starting chain. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2: Dc in first dc. Ch1. *Dc in next dc. Ch1. Rep from * 7 times. 2dc in top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Dc in next dc. Not the first one. Ch3. *Sc in next dc. Ch3. Rep from * 7 times. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 4: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from *5 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 5: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 4 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 6: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 3 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 7: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 2 times more. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 8: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Rep from * 1 more time. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 9: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk next ch3 sp. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch3. Sk last ch3 sp. Dc in next dc and in the top of ch3. Ch1.

ROW 10: Dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk the 2 ch3 sps. Dc in next dc and in top of ch3. Ch1.

Now you will work around the perimeter of the whole bookmark.

Work down the left side treating each ch3 and dc as a sp.
2sc in first sp. *Ch3. 2sc in next sp. Rep from * 8 times more. Until you get to the bottom of the pineapple. Then work 2sc in next sp on tail of bookmark.

Now the tail part.
*Ch3. 2sc in next sp. Rep from * 19 times more. Ch3.

Bottom: work the following in the very bottom space to work your way around to the other side. (Dc, ch3, four times. Ch5. Dc, ch3, 5 times.)

Next Side:
2sc in next sp. *Ch3. 2sc in next sp. Rep from * 19 times more. You should now be at the bottom of the pineapple on the right hand side. 2sc in next sp. *Ch3. 2sc in next sp. Rep from * 8 times more.

Work the following in the ch3 sp at the very top of the pineapple. (Dc, ch3, dc, ch5, dc, ch3, dc.)
Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave all ends into work.
