Graceful Angel

This pretty angel is made in 2 colors using a variation of a stitch I recently used in a pattern on this site. The stitch is the Treble Fan Stitch but this one is more of a shell.

Materials Needed
Size 10 crochet cotton in white
Size 10 crochet cotton in pink
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Fabric Stiffener
Styrofoam Cone
Waxed Paper
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc = 1"
Finished Size: 8" high
Skill Level: Intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: With white. Ch2. 8sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch2. Hdc in same st as slst. 2hdc in each sc around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 3-5: Ch2. Hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 6: Ch2.(Yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook) *Hdc in next st. Rep bet ()once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 7: Ch2. (Yo, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through all 4 lps on hook.) *Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Jon w/slst to top of ch2. (8sts)

RND 8: Ch2. Hdc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch2.

RND 9: Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 10: Ch3. Dc in next st. 3dc in each of the next 4 dc. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. 3dc in each of the next 4 dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 11: Ch3. Dc in enxt dc. Sk 12 dc. Dc in each of the next 4 dc. Sk 12 dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 12: Ch4. Dc in same st as slst. Dc, ch1, dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4.

RND 13: Slst into the first ch1 sp. Ch5, dc in same sp. Ch1. *Dc, ch2, dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch5.

RND 14: Slst into the first ch2 sp. Ch4, dc, ch2, 2dc in 3rd ch from hook. Ch1. *Tr in next ch2 sp. Dc, ch2, 2dc in post of tr. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch4.

RND 15: Slst into the next ch2 sp. Ch4. Dc, ch2, 2dc in 3rd ch from hook. Ch1. (Tr in next ch1 sp, dc, ch2, 2dc in post of tr. Ch1.) *Tr in next ch2 sp, dc, ch2, 2dc in post of tr. Ch1. Rep bet ()once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch4.

RND 16-19: Slst ino the next ch2 sp. Ch4, dc, ch2, 2dc in 3rd ch from hook. Ch1. *Tr in next ch2 sp, dc, ch2, 2dc in post of tr. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch4. Fasten off white.

RND 20: Join pink in any ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc,ch2, 3dc in same sp. Sc in next ch1. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 sp. Sc in next ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (Make sure when you work the sc in the ch1, you actually work it in the chain itself and not the space.) Fasten off pink.

RND 1: Wings With white. Join onto same st as 4th dc on round 10. Ch3. Dc in each of the next 13 sts. Fasten off white. Repeat with opposite side.

RND 2: Join pink in top of ch3. Ch1. *Sc in next st. Ch3. Sk next st. Rep from * 5 times more. Join w/slst to first sc. Do not join to ch1.

RND 3: Ch1. Slst into the next ch3 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp. *Sc in next sc. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch 3 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work. Repeat with opposite side.

Finishing Halo: Ch12. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch1. Work 24 sc in ring. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Finishing Assembly:

STEP 1: Stuff Head with polyester fiberfill.

STEP 2: Wrap waxed paper around cone. No need to be neat about it. Just make sure to shape it the way you want it for the skirt.

STEP 3: Dip the whole angel into the fabric stiffener and place over the cone. Shape it as you want it as it dries. Do the same with the halo but set it aside. Allow both pieces to dry completely then glue the halo in place on the head.
