Emma's Baby Afghan

This afghan was designed for little Emma. My cousin's first baby born on July 4, 1998. I knew a little girl was on the way but she decided to arrive about 3 weeks early. She weighs 5lbs 14oz and is in very good health! I have named this pattern in her honor.

Materials Needed:
Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn 26 oz total. 24 oz Aran and 2 Oz Light Raspberry.
Size H aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle.

Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 4dc per inch 3 pattern rows per 2 inches
Finished Size: 38"x48"
Skill Level: Beginner

Special Instructions
Work bet sts as indicated throughout afghan. These places will be referred to as a sp or sps. When I say to skip 2dcs, bl in next sp. I mean to put the bobble in the space right after the 2nd dc which was skipped and before the third one.

Bobble (bl)
Yo, insert hook in sp indicated, yo, pull lp through st, yo, pull through two lps on hook. Rep from beg until there are 4 lps on hook. Yo and pull through all 4 lps on hook.

Instructions
ROW 1: With Aran, Ch112. Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2: Dc in sp bet first two dcs. Bl in next sp. *Sk 2dc, bl in next sp. Rep from * across. There will be one more sp at the end. Work 2dc in this last sp. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Dc in first sp. Sk next sp. *2dc in next sp. Rep from * across. Work 2dc in last sp. Ch3, turn.

ROWs 4-73: Rep ROWs 2 & 3 alternately. Fasten off Aran.

Edging: Tie yarn onto last sp in top left corner. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, sc in same sp.

Work the following in each row on both sides of afghan and in every other sp along the bottom and top of afghan. (Sc, ch2, 1dc, ch2, sc). Work the fol in each corner sp. (Sc, ch2, 2dc, ch2, sc) When you reach where you started, join w/slst to first ch of ch3.
