This ball ornament is fast and easy to make and would look great done in several different color combinations. The top and bottom part are done separately then put together over the ball. The bottom chains are longer than the top chains on the last round.

Size 10 crochet cotton in color of choice.
2½" satin covered ball ornament in color of choice
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 10thread
Finished Size: 2½" diam
Skill Level: Beginner
RND 1: Top. Ch12. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, dc in same ch as slst. 2dc in each ch around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch4. Sk 1 st. *Sc in next st. Ch4. Sk 1 st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to base of first ch 4 sp.
RND 3: Slst into each of the next 2 chs. Sc in same ch2 sp. (Ch3. 3dc in next ch4 sp. Ch3.) *Sc in next ch4 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.
RND 4: Ch8. (Dc in next dc. Ch8. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc. Ch4.) *Tr in next sc. Ch4. Rep bet ()once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 4th ch of ch8. Fasten off and weave ends into work. Set top aside.
RND Bottom 1-3: Repeat as for top rounds 1-3.
RND 4: Ch8. Dc in next dc. Ch7. Slst in a ch8 lp of top piece making sure wrong sides are facing each other. Ch4. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc. Ch4. *Tr in next sc. Ch4. Dc in next dc. Ch7. Slst st in next ch8 sp of top piece. Ch7. Sk next dc. Dc in next dc. Ch4. Rep from * around but before closing, slip ornament into work making sure that round one of top is around the hanger of the ornament. Join w/slst to 4th ch of ch8. Fasten off and weave ends into work. Attach ornament hanger to loop at top of ornament.
