Waffle Stitch Variation

I call this Waffle Stitch Variation
This special stitch is a variation of another the Waffle stitch.

      The instructions below are for using one color or varigated yarn. But for variety, try using two different colors for a very striking effect Changing the color after completeing every even numbered row.

It is best to start this pattern stitch with a sc foundation row.
You will need to ch a multiple of 4 sts +3.

To make a sample swatch.
ROW 1: Ch 23. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch3, turn.
ROW 2: Dc in next st, *ch2, sk next 2 sts dc in next 2 sts. Rep from * across. End with a dc in last 2 sts. Ch3, turn.
ROW 3: Dc in next st, *Tr in first skipped st working in front of ch2 sp. Tr in next skipped st working behind ch2 sp. Dc in next 2 dc. Rep from * across. Ch3, turn.
ROW 4-19: Rep ROW's 2 & 3 alternately until you finish row 19. Ch1, turn.
ROW 20: Sc in each st across.

      Of course you can make this as long as you want. This would make a lovely scarf using this many stitches with yarn. Or you could start with a longer starting ch and make placemats. Or you can go to the two patterns in this month's newsletter and make a coaster and a dishcloth. :) What ever you do, have fun.
