Ruffled Tissue Box Cover

This tissue box cover is first done in rows, then rounds. The ruffle and Shells are added last. I designed it to go into my guest bathroom after we finish renovating it.

Gauge: 4dc = 1" 14back stitch sc rows =4 "
Finished Size: Fits a Rectangular Tissue Box
Skill Level: Intermediate

Special Stitches Used: DcDec. For this pattern you will work the dc dec in the following way. Yo, insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 lps on hook, twice, yo, pull through all 3 lps on hook.

Instructions


ROW 1: With Blue. Ch 17. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch1, turn. (16)sc

ROW 2-96: Working in back loops only, sc in each sc across. Ch1 turn.

Joining first row to last row. Join first row to last row by working a slst in each stitch across inserting into back loop of row 96 and base chain of row 1 at the same time. Do not fasten off. Now you will work in rounds.

RND 1: Ch1, sc in same st as last st. Sc in each row around so you have 96 sc around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch2. Work 10 dcdec. Hdc in each of the next 4 sc. Sc in each of the next 16 sc. Hdc in each of the next 4 sc. Work 12 dcdec. Hdc in each of the next 4 sc. Sc in each of the next 16 sc. Hdc in each of the next 4 sc. Dc dec 2 times more. Join w/slst to first dcdec. (72sts)

RND 3: Ch2. Work 5 dcdec. Hdc in each of the next 4 sts. Sc in each of the next 16 sts. Hdc in each of the next 4 sts. Work 6 dcdec. Hdc in each of the next 4 sts. Sc in each of the next 16 sts. Hdc in each of the next 4 sts. Work 1 more dcdec. Join w/slst to first dcdec. (60sts)

RND 4: Ch2. Work 4 dcdec. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in each of the next 16 sts. Hdc in each of the next 2 sc. Work 5 dc dec. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Sc in each of the next 16 sts. Hdc in each of the next 2 sts. Work one more dcdec. Join w/slst to first dcdec. (50sts)

RND 5: Ch1. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off Blue.

RND 1 of White top: Turn work round so you are going in the opposite direction. Join white yarn to the bottom of the last round you worked joining around the post. Work 1 surface sc around each post around. You should end with 50 sc. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch1, sc in same st as slst. Ch3. Sk next sc. *Sc in next sc. Ch3. Sk next sc. Repeat from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 3: Slst into the first ch3 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp. Sc in next ch3 sp. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch3 sp. Sc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off white off of top and weave ends into back of work.

Ruffled Around bottom of Cover
Join white yarn to end of row where you joined the first and last rows. Ch3, 3dc in same st. Work 4dc in each row around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
