Citrus Stitch Scrunchie

This scrunchie is made with a stitch I developed a few years ago. The Citrus Stitch. It works up fast so you could make several in different colors for a gift for someone!

Worsted weight acrylic yarn in red.
Size H/8 aluminum crochet hook
Large hair elastic
Metal Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"
Finished Size: 4" diam
Skill Level: Beginner
Special Stitch Citrus Stitch (cit): Ch5, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, pull up a lp, *insert hook in next st and pull up a lp. Rep from * 2 more times. Yo and pull through all 5 lps on hook. Ch1 to close.
RND 1: Tie yarn onto hair elastic. Ch8, insert hook in 2nd ch from hook, pull up a lp, *insert hook in next st and pull up a lp. Rep from * 2 more times. Yo and pull through all 5 lps on hook. Ch1 to close. You will have 3 chs left, which count as a dc. *Dc in elastic, cit. Rep from * 23 times more or until the elastic is full. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch8. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
