This ornament is stuffed with tissue paper but to make it washable, you could use a piece from a plastic shopping bag. I made it ridged, with tissue paper, so it will keep it's shape.

Small amount red and white worsted weight acrylic yarn. Red Heart was used in the example.
Size H/8 aluminum crochet hook
Tissue Paper, the kind for wrapping gifts
Yarn Needle for weaving in ends
Ornament hanger of choice
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Finished Size: 3" diam
Skill Level: Beginner
Make 2 the same
RND 1: With Red. Ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3. 17dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3.
RND 2: Ch3. 2Dc in same st as slst. Ch3. Sk 2dc. *3dc in next dc. Ch3. Sk 2dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off red.
RND 3: Join to same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 2 dc. 2dc in each of the next 2 skipped dc behind the ch3 sp. *Sc in each of the next 3 dc. 2dc in each of the next 2 skipped dc behind the ch3 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off white.
With Red. place both circles together wrong sides facing each other. Work 1 sc in each st around working through all lps on both pieces at the same time. Before closing, stuff with tissue paper or a crumpled up plastic bag to make a stiff puffed circle. Finish closing, and slst to first sc. Fasten off. Weave all ends into work. Attach hanger anywhere.
