My Baby Afghan Marathon Story
Image of Marathon Afghan Image Well, on Saturday I had to come up with something quick to crochet for a baby shower that was to be the next day. Well I thought perhaps a pair of booties but then I thought that would not be enough so I decided to make an afghan.

Now you may think I am crazy but I did get the afghan started at about 2:00 in the afternoon and I was designing it using granny squares as I worked on it. When I started it I had no idea what I was going to do but I had enough blue and white yarn to make a small afghan. Perfect colors because the parents already know they are having a boy. Well any way, I started making the squares and kept thinking to myself, ..."I must be nuts! How am I going to finish this by tomorrow? The shower is at 3:00 in the afternoon and I will have to wrap it and make a card and do everything else as well". Well I was determined to get it done so I locked myself in my room to work on it. I told my daughter to either leave me alone and don't let anyone bug me or you can watch me but keep quiet. I have a TV in my room so that was easy for her to do. She told me I was nuts and that I would not be able to finish it in time... (She is only 10). She got bored and left the room. Well anyway. I worked on it about 2 hours, then made supper, ate and went right back to work on it. It took me ½ hour to make supper and eat. By midnight I had 12 squares sewn together and 4 rows crocheted around the outside and said there, I can finish it tomorrow.

I did manage to finish completely by 2:15. It was all wrapped and the card was made and I had taken pictures of it just in time for my cousin's wife to pick it up for the shower. I was unable to go to the shower but at least part of me was there.

What a way to get the Crochet week started. A crochet marathon. I managed to finish the afghan in 8 hours. A record for me. I hope I did not bore you to death. Thanks for getting this far. You are so sweet.
