Julie's Head Band

This head band is easy and fun to make. You could use a black elastic for a different effect since the elastic band shows through.

Materials Needed:
Size 10 Crochet Cotton Southmaid color Pink was used.
14½" of ½"wide white elastic
Size 7 Steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle
Safety Pin
Sewing needle and white thread

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc=1""
Finished Size: =18"circ.
Skill Level: Easy

To do a double treble, (dtr).
Work as for a double crochet or a treble crochet but wrapping the yarn around the hook 3 times instead of one or two times and complete as usual.

Instructions
ROW 1: Ch230. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch5, turn.
ROW 2: Work 1 dtr in each sc across. Ch1, turn.
ROW 3: Sc in each dtr across. Fasten off.

Weave elastic through the row of dtrs in and out each one. Sew the ends of the elastic together overlapping about 1" or as needed to fit head. Work the stitches over the edges of the elastic using an overcast stitch all around where the edges of the elastic are. This makes the most secure joint.

Then pull the ends of the crochet work together then weave the ends in. You will see the elastic peeking through the stitches. This is ok. It adds to the look of it.
