Scallop Edged Sachet

This frilly sachet is easy and fun to make and would make addition to a gift basket which is filled with sweet smelling items for bed or bath. All I did to make it smell sweet is to spray the stuffing and the outside with my favorite perfume. Of course with the way this is made, you could use Christmas colors and make it into an ornament.

Materials Needed
Small amount white crochet cotton size 10 (MC)
Small amount shaded blues crochet cotton size 10 (CC)
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Polyester fiber fill or potpourri of your choice.
Perfume if you use fiber fill.
Tapestry needle

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 10sc=1
Finished Size: 4"x4"

Instructions Front

RND 1: With MC. Ch6. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Work 12 sc in ring. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Work in back lps only for this round. Ch3. Dc in same st as slst. Work 2 dc in each st around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 3: Ch3. Dc in next dc. Ch2. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch2. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off MC.

RND 4: Join CC in any ch2 sp. Ch3. Dc in same sp. Ch1. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off CC.

RND 5: Join MC in first ch 1 sp. Ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same ch1 sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Five times.) *2dc, ch2, 2d in next ch1 sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Five times.) Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 6: Slst to the next ch2 sp. Ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Six times.) *2dc, ch3, 2dc in next ch2 corner sp. Ch1. (2d in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Six times.) Rep from * around. Join w/slst top of ch3. Fasten off MC.

RND 7: Join CC in any ch2 corner sp. Ch3. 2Dc in same sp. Ch2, 3dc in same sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Seven times.) *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 corner sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Seven times) Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Flower.
RND 1: With CC. Join yarn to first sc on first round, on front lp. Ch3. *Sk next st. Sc in next st. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst in first ch of the first ch3. You should now have 6 lps.

RND 2: Slst to the 2nd ch of the first ch1 lp. Sc in same lp. Ch4. *Sc in next lp. Ch4. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of the first ch3.

RND 3: Sc, hdc, dc, ch2, dc, hdc, sc in each lp around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work. Set aside front.

Back:
RND 1: Rep rnd 1 of front.

RND 2: Rep rnd 2 of front but work in both lps not just the back ones.

RND 3: Rep rnd 3 of front but do not fasten off.

RND 4: Slst to the next ch2 sp. Ch3. Dc in same sp. Ch1. *Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 5: Slst to the first ch1 sp. Ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same ch1 sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Five times.) *2dc, ch2, 2d in next ch1 sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Five times.) Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 6: Slst to the next ch2 sp. Ch3, dc, ch2, 2dc in same sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Six times.) *2dc, ch3, 2dc in next ch2 corner sp. Ch1. (2d in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Six times.) Rep from * around. Join w/slst top of ch3. Fasten off MC.

RND 7: Join CC in any ch2 corner sp. Ch3. 2Dc in same sp. Ch2, 3dc in same sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Seven times.) *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 corner sp. Ch1. (2dc in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Seven times) Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Assembly:
Put both front and back together wrong sides facing each other.
RND 1: With CC. You will now work both thicknesses. Match the corners and Tie thread onto any corner. Work the foll in the same corner. 2sc, ch5, 2sc. Ch3. *(Sc in next ch1 sp. Ch3. Eight times.) 2sc, ch5, 2sc in next ch2 corner sp. Ch3. Rep from * 2 times more. Before closing, stuff with polyester fiber fill or potpourri. Then close with (Sc in next ch1 sp. Ch3. Eight times.) Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 2: Ch1. 8dc in ch5 sp. Sc in next sc. (5dc in next ch3 sp. Sc in next sc. Nine times.) *8dc in next ch5 sp. Sc in next sc. (5dc in next ch3 sp. Sc in next sc. Nine times.) Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
