Bump Stitch Pillow

This pillow is made in two pieces made separately then joined on the last round of the 2nd side. It is fairly fast and easy to make and uses a stitch I developed back in 1998.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in Royal Blue 2oz
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in Delft Blue 2oz
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in Light Blue 2oz
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in White 2oz
1 - 16" x 16" square pillow form
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc = 1"e;
Finished Size: 16" x 16"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
Make the front and back the same but join the 2 squares together on the last round. Special Stitch Bump Stitch: (bs) Ch3, dc in 3rd ch from hook.

First Square
RND 1: With Royal, ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, 2dc in ring. Ch2. 3dc in ring, ch2, 3 times. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Slst in each of the next 2 dc and in next ch2 sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same sp. Ch1. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 sp, ch1. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 3: Slst into each of the next 2 dc and into next ch2 sp. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. Bs. Sc in next ch1 sp. Bs. 3sc, ch2, 3 sc in next ch2 sp. Bs. Sc in next ch1 sp. Bs. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 4: Slst in each of the next 2 sc and in next ch2 sp. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. Bs. Sc in next ch3 part of next bs. In other words, this will be referred to as Sc in next bs from here and throughout. Bs. Sc in next bs. Bs. *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Bs, sc in next bs, twice. Bs. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 5: Slst in each of the next 2 sc and in next ch2 sp. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 3 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off royal.

RND 6: Join Delft Blue in next ch2 sp after joining last round. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 4 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 7: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 5 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 8: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 6 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 9: Join Light Blue in next ch2 sp after joining last round. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 7 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 10: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 8 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 11: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 9 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 12: Join White in next ch2 sp after joining last round. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 10 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 13: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 11 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 14: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 12 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 15: Join Royal in next ch2 sp after joining last round. Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 13 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 16: Ch1, 2sc, ch2, 3sc in same sp. (Bs, sc in next bs, 14 times. Bs.) *3sc, ch2, 3sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off first square only. Weave ends into back of work.

Second Square:
Make as for first square but do not fasten off.

Hold both pieces together wrong sides facing each other. Join royal to next ch2 sp after joining last round working through both the front and back piece. Work through the front and back piece in each stitch indicated throughout this round. Slip pillow form into work before finishing 4th side.

RND 17: Ch1, sc, ch2, sc in same corner sp. (Bs, sc in next bs 15 times. Bs.) *Sc, ch2, sc in next ch2 sp. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.
