Popcorn Pillowghan Square

Popcorn Pillowghan Square

Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This square is a result of a request from a fellow crocheter. :) She asked for a 12"x12" square and here it is. I am into doing popcorns lately so I put some into this square. Imagine a bunch of these squares put together in an afghan!

Materials Needed:
Red Heart Worsted Weight acrylic yarn in Raspberry.
Size H8/5.0mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle

Gauge: 4dc=1"
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Finished Size: 12"x12"
Skill Level: Intermediate

How to do a popcorn:
Work 5dc in stitch indicated. Take hook out and insert it into the first dc. Then put the loop back on to the hook and pull this loop through the first dc. Ch1.

NOTE: For all of the rounds except for the last one, you will be working between stitches instead of in them. And I will refer to the spaces between the stitches as sp.

How to put the Pillowghan together:
Generally you make 13 squares and sew them together 3x4 squares. Then sew the 13th square to the center square at the bottom of the afghan, right side facing the right side of the afghan. and sew 3 sides of it to the afghan. Leave open the side that faces the inside of the afghan.

To fold it up into a pillow. Lay the afghan down so that the pillow pocket is facing down. Fold the afghan lengthwise into thirds following the seam lines. Then fold up the afghan starting at the end where the "Pocket" is not and fold it up to form a square. Then Turn the Pocket inside out over the folded afghan.

Your pillow is formed.
