Honey Comb Trivet

It is a fast and fun trivet to make and would make a wonderful Bazaar item. It uses wooden rings which can be purchased from this site.

Materials Needed To make 2
14 wooden rings. 1½"x3/8" with a 7/32" center hole
1 2.5 oz 70.9g ball Peaches & Cream worsted weight cotton yarn. Ecru
Yarn Needle

Gauge 4sc=1"
Yarn Thickness 4mm
Finished Size 8" diameter
Skill Level Beginner

This trivet is made by working each ring and joining them as you complete each one.

Ring 1: Tie yarn onto ring. *3 sc in ring. Ch3. Rep from * 5 times more. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off. Weave ends into work.

Ring 2: Tie yarn onto new ring. 3sc in ring. Ch1. (Join w/slst to first ring made in a ch3 lp of first ring facing the rings back to back.) Ch1. 3 sc in current ring. Ch1. Rep Bet () but join in the next ch3 lp of other ring. Ch1. *3sc in current ring. Ch3. Rep from * 2 times more. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Ring 3: Tie yarn onto new ring. 3sc in ring. Ch1. (Join w/slst to first ring made in a ch3 lp of first ring, facing the rings back to back.) Ch1. 3 sc in current ring. Ch1. Rep Bet () but join in the next ch3 lp of other ring. Then slst in the ch3 lp of the center ring where you joined the previous ring. Ch1. 3sc in current ring. Ch1. Join w/slst in the next ch3 lp of the center ring. ch1. 3sc in current ring. Ch3. 3sc in current ring. Ch3. 3sc in current ring. Ch3. Join w/slst to first sc.

Rings 4-6: Repeat the instructions for ring 3.

Ring 7: Tie yarn onto new ring. 3sc in ring. Ch1. (Join w/slst to first ring made in a ch3 lp of first ring, facing the rings back to back.) Ch1. 3 sc in current ring. Ch1. Rep Bet () but join in the next ch3 lp of other ring. Then slst in the ch3 lp of the center ring where you joined the previous ring. Ch1. 3sc in current ring. Ch1. Slst in next ch3 loop where the first ring was joined to the center ring. Then slst in the ch3 loop of the first ring that was joined to the center ring. Ch1. 3sc in current ring. Ch1. Join w/slst to next ch3 loop of the first ring that was joined to the center ring. Ch1. 3sc in current ring. Ch3. 3sc in current ring. Ch3. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave all ends into work.

Perimeter.
Join yarn in any ch3 loop on outer edge. Work the following all the way around.

3sc in each of the ch3 loops on the outer perimeter which have not been joined to another ring.
2sc in each ch3 loop which has been joined on the outer perimeter.
1sc in each sc around.
When you are done, join w/slst to first sc.
