March Square

     This square is perfect for any granny square exchange you may be participating in. Most granny square exchanges use 6"x6" squares and here is just one more you can use.

Materials Needed:
Small amounts each yellow and green worsted weight yarn.
Red Heart was used in the example
Size H 8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle

Gauge: 4dc=1"
Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Finished Size: 6"x6"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
RND 1: Ch4, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch5. *Sc in ring. Ch4. Rep from * 2 times more. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5. You should now have 4 ch4 lps.

RND 2: Slst into the first ch4 lp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same lp. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in each lp around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off Yellow.

RND 3: Join Green in space just before where you joined on the last rnd. Between the 3dc groups. See picture. Ch5. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch4, sc in same ch2 sp. Ch4, *sk 3 dc, sc in next sp bet dc groups. Ch4. Sc, ch4, sc in next ch2 sp. Ch4. rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch5.

RND 4: Slst into the first ch4 lp. Ch3, 2dc in same lp. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 corner sp. 3dc in each of the next 2 ch4 lps. Rep from * 2 times more. 3dc, ch2, 3dc in last ch2 corner sp. 3dc in last ch4 lp. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off Green.

RND 5: Join yellow in any ch2 corner sp. Ch3, 2dc, ch2, 3dc in same ch2 corner sp. 3dc in each of the next 3 sps between dc groups. *3dc, ch2, 3dc in next ch2 corner sp. 3dc in each of the next 3 sps between dc groups. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off yellow.

RND 6: Join green in any dc. Work a sc in each dc around and work 2sc, ch2, 2sc in each corner. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
