Winter Wonder Granny Square

This 7½" granny square is fun and easy to make and would make a great addition to your granny square pattern library.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn in blue and white. Red Heart Super Saver was used in the example.
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc=1"
Finished Size: 7½" x 7½"
Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: With blue, ch6, join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch1. 11 sc in ring. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Ch5. Sk 2 sts. *2dc in next st. Ch5. Sk 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off.

RND 3: Join white in next ch5 sp. Sc in same sp. (Dc in next skipped st of RND 1 behind ch5 sp, sc in ch5 sp, twice.) C3. *Sc in next ch5 sp. Rep bet () in same sp once. Ch3. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 4: Ch4. Dc in next sc, ch1, twice. Ch1. 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch3 sp. Ch1. *Dcin next sc, ch1, 3 times. 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch3 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off white.

RND 5: Join blue to same st as slst. Ch1. (Dc in skipped dc of RND 3 behind ch1 sp, sc in next dc, twice. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in each of the next 2dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch2 sp. Sc in each of the next 2dc. Sc in next ch1 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 6: Ch4. (Sk next st. Dc in next st, ch1, sk next st, 4 times. 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch2 sp. Ch1, sk next st, dc in next st, 2 times. Ch1. Sk next st.) *Dc in next st. Ch1. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4. Fasten off blue.

RND 7: Join white in same st as slst. Ch1. (Dc in skipped st behind ch1 sp, sc in next dc, 5 times. Sc in next dc. 2sc, ch2, 2sc in next ch2 sp. Sc in each of the next 2 dc. Dc in skipped st behind ch1 sp, sc in next dc, 2 times. Dc in skipped st behind ch1 sp.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to ch1.

RND 8: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 13 sts. (Dc, ch2, dc in next ch2 sp. Dc in each of the next 9 sts.) *Dc in next 14 sts. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. Fasten off white.

RND 9: Join blue in same st as slst. Ch1. Sc in each st around but work 2sc, ch1, 2sc in each ch2 corner sp around. Join w/slst to ch1. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.
