Spiral Center Hexagon Motif

You could make a great coverlet to go over a solid colored comforter with this motif. Make it in several colors out of your scraps for a very beautiful and colorful afghan. You could make at least 3 or 4 motifs in a couple of hours.

Materials Needed
Small amount worsted weight acrylic yarn for each motif
Size H/8 aluminum crochet hook
Yarn Needle for weaving in ends.

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 4dc=1"
Finished Size: 8"diam from flat side to flat side
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: Ch5. Join w/slst to first ch to form ring. Ch3, dc in ring. Ch3. Work 3 dc around post of last dc made. *2Dc in ring. Ch3. Work 3dc around post of last dc made. Rep from * 4 times more. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 2: Slst in each of the next 3 chs. Sc in same ch3 sp. Ch6. *Sc in next ch3 sp. Ch6. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to sc.

RND 3: Ch3. (Dc in each of the next 3 chs of the next ch6 sp. Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3 chs of the same sp.) *Dc in next sc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4: Ch2. [Sk next 3 dc. (Dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc, ch2, dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc, ch1, dc in next ch3 sp. Shell Made) Ch1. Sk next 3 dc.] *Sc in next dc. Ch1. Rep bet [] once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first ch of ch2.

RND 5: Ch1. Slst in ch1 sp. Slst in next dc. Slst in next ch1 sp. Slst in next dc. Slst in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc, ch2, sc in next ch2 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Ch7. *Sc in 3rd dc of the next shell. Sc, in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc, ch2, sc in next ch2 sp. Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch1 sp. Sc in next dc. Ch7. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc made in round.

RND 6: Ch3. Dc in each of the next 3 sc. 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch2 sp. Dc in each of the next 4 sc. Dc in each of the next 7 chs. *Dc in each of the next 4 sc. 2dc, ch2, 2dc in next ch2 sp. Dc in each of the next 4 sc. Dc in each of the next 7 chs. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Join motifs with whip stitch.
