Lacet Strip Bookmark

This simple bookmark looks harder to do than it really is. It is fairly quick to make and you would make great little something extra you could give someone who reads a lot. You could also embellish it with a satin ribbon woven down the center of it.

Materials Needed
Small amount size 10 crochet cotton. White or desired color
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Spray Starch
Tapestry Needle

Gauge: 10sc=1"
Finished Size: 7½"x1"
Skill Level Beginner

Instructions
ROW 1: Ch60. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 2: Dc in each of the next 3 sc. (Ch3. Sk next 2 sc. Sc in next sc. Ch3. Sk next 2 sc. ) Dc in each of the next 4 sc. Rep bet () once. Dc in each of the enxt 4 sc. Rep bet () once. Dc in each of the next 5 sc. Rep bet () once. Dc in each of the next 4 sc. Rep bet () once. Dc in each of the next 4 sc. Rep bet () once. Dc in each of the last 4 sts. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Dc in each of the next 3 dc. (Ch5, dc in next dc, ch2, sk next 2 dc, dc in next dc. Twice.) Ch5. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch2. Sk next 2 dc. Dc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep bet () once. Ch5. Dc in each of the next 3 dc and in the top of ch3. Ch3, turn.

ROW 4: Dc in each of the next 3 dc. (Ch2. Sk next 2 chs of the ch5 sp, sc in next ch, ch2, sk next 2 chs, dc in each of the next 4 dc. Twice) Ch2. Sk next 2 chs of the ch5 sp, sc in next ch, ch2, sk next 2 chs, dc in each of the next 2 dc, dc in each of the next 2 chs, dc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep bet () once. Ch2. Sk next 2 chs of the ch5 sp, sc in next ch, ch2, sk next 2 chs, dc in each of the next 3 dc and in top of ch3. Ch1, turn.

ROW 5: Sc in each of the first 4 dc. (Sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in sc. Sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in each of the next 4dc. Twice.) Sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in sc. Sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in each of the next 5 dc. Rep bet ( ) once. Sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in sc. Sc in each of the next 2 chs. Sc in each of the next 3 dc and in top of ch3. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work. Iron and starch lightly to help it keep it's shape.
