Amanda's Clutter Bag

This crocheted clutter bag is fun and somewhat easy to make. It uses an 8 oz whipped topping container as it's base for support. It is perfect for hiding those little things that you do not want other people to see.

Materials Needed
1 skein, 4 oz Red Heart Strata, Pattern Stripes Acrylic yarn. Color, Passion, you will use just under 2 oz of it.
about 2oz Sport weight acrylic yarn in black or a solid color. Red Heart was used in the example.
Size H/8 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
1/4" paper punch
1 empty clean 8oz Whipped topping container without a lid.
Yarn needle for weaving in ends.

Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 5dc=1"
Finished Size: 7" x 11"
Skill Level: Intermediate

Prepare Container: Punch 56 holes evenly spaced just under rim of container, set aside. With a typical paper punch, you should be able to line up the edge of the hole guide, on the punch, with the edge of the previous hole and get the right amount of holes around.

RND 1: With strata yarn, Ch4, join w/slst to first ch of ch4. Ch3, 15dc in ring. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (16dc)

RND 2: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. 2dc in each dc around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (32dc)

RND 3: Ch3, dc in same st as slst. Dc in next dc. *2dc in next dc. Dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3. (48dc)

RND 4: Ch1, sc in same st as slst. Sc in each of the next 4 dc. 2sc in next dc. *Sc in each of the next 5 dc. 2sc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. (56sc)

RND 5: Ch4. (Sk 2 sts. Dc, ch1, dc in next st, vst made. Ch1. Sk 2 sts. Dc in next st.) *Dc in next st. Ch1. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4. Drop strata but do not fasten off.

RND 6: Join black in same st as slst. Ch1. Sc in same st. (Dc in each of the 2 skipped dc of previous round over the ch1 sp. Sc in next ch1 sp of vst. Dc in each of the next 2 skipped dc of previous round over the ch1 sp. Sc in next dc.) *Sc in next dc. Rep bet () once. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Drop black but do not fasten off.

RND 7: Pick up strata, ch1, sc in same st. Sc in each st around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 8: Repeat RND 5. Drop strata.

RND 9: Pick up black. Repeat RND 6.

RND 10: Repeat RND 7.

RND 11: Repeat RND 5.

RND 12: Repeat RND 6.

RND 13: Repeat RND 7 working each sc in each st through each st and hole in the container.

RND 14-28: Repeat RNDs 5-7 consecutively. At the end of RND 28, fasten off black and weave end into inside of work.

RND 29: Ch4. Sk next st. *Dc in next st. Ch1. Sk next st. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch4.

RND 30: Ch1. Sc in same st as slst. Sc in next ch1 sp. *Sc in next dc. Sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Drawstrings: Make 2 chains, 70 chs long. Weave each into Round 29 going in opposite directions.
