Thermal Stitch Preemie BlanketDesigned by Julie A. BolducThe stitch pattern used in this pattern resembles the look of those wonderfully warm thermal blankets you can buy. This stitch could also be used in large afghans and would be very warm. The way the thermal pattern is made makes it really thick.
Materials Needed:
Gauge: 4sc=1" NOTE: To make this stitch pattern, I use a combination of two stitches. A hdc in one st followed by what I call a (scfbb) which is a single crochet front back bobble. It is made the same way as a fbb from last month but instead of doing the yo first in the stitch work the stitch in the following way.
Single Crochet front back bobble: (scfbb)
Insert hook in back lp only of next st. yo, draw up a loop. You will now have 2 lps on hook. Yo, draw through one lp on hook. Now, insert hook in front lp of same stitch from the inside toward you, yo draw up a lp. You should now have 3 lps on hook. Yo and pull through all 3 lps on hook.
ROW 1: Ch 65. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch2, turn. ROW 2: Hdc in first sc. *Scfbb in next st. Hdc in next st. Rep from * across. You will end with a scbb in the last st. Ch2, turn. ROW 3-42: Rep row 2. You will be working hdc on scfbb and vise versa. After you are done with row 42. Work one rnd of sc all the way around work the following in each corner. sc, ch2 sc. Fasten off and weave all ends into back of work. Design written on Sunday, January 24, 1999. Copyright © 1999 By Julie A. Bolduc f120004 |
