Lacy Filet Bookmark

Lacy Filet Bookmark Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This bookmark starts out as a simple filet piece but then is worked in rounds for a very lacy effect. It can also be easily made in under a couple of hours so it is very quick.

Materials Needed:
Small amount size 10 crochet cotton. Knit-Cro-Sheen in cream was used in the example.
Size 7 steel crochet hook
Tapestry Needle
Spray Starch
Iron

Thread Thickness: 10thread
Gauge: 8sc=1"
Finished Size: 7"x2"
Skill Level: Beginner

Instructions
ROW 1: Ch14. Dc in 8th ch from hook. Ch2. Sk 2 chs, dc in next ch. Ch2. Dc in last ch. Ch5, turn.

ROW 2: Dc in next dc. Ch2. Dc in next dc. Ch2. Sk 2 chs, dc in next ch. Ch5, turn.

ROW 3-21: Rep row 2. At the end of row 21, do not ch5, and do not turn. You will work in the round counter clockwise from here. Now you will work around. Treat each corner as a corner sp. Treat each row as a ch2 sp.

RND 1: Ch6, 3dc in same corner sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. (3dc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. ) Rep bet () 8 times more. 3dc, ch3, 3dc in next corner sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. 3dc, ch3, 3dc in next corner sp. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. Rep bet () 9 times. 3dc, ch3, 3dc in next corner sp. Ch3. Sc in next ch2 sp. Ch3. 2dc in starting corner sp. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch6.

RND 2: Slst into the first ch3 sp. Ch6. Dc in same sp. Ch5. Dc in same sp. Ch3. Dc in same sp. (Dc in next ch3 sp. Ch5. Dc in next ch3 sp) Rep bet () 9 times more. Dc, ch3, dc, ch5, dc, ch3, dc in next ch3 corner sp. Rep bet () 1 time. Dc, ch3, dc, ch5, dc, ch3, dc in next ch3 corner sp. Rep bet () 10 times. Dc, ch3, dc, ch5, dc, ch3, dc in next ch3 corner sp. Rep bet () 1 time. Join w/slst to 3rd ch of ch6. Fasten off, weave ends into work. Starch lightly with spray starch and iron.
