Shell Stitch Cosmetic Bag

This crocheted cosmetic bag uses a strip of hook and loop tape for it's closure. It is fast and easy to make and would make a great gift for that favorite teen girl in your family.

Materials Needed
Worsted weight acrylic yarn. Caron Simply Soft in soft pink was used in the example
Size G/6 or 5mm aluminum crochet hook
Piece of hook and loop tape, 5/8" x 7"
Yarn needle for weaving in ends
White sewing thread and needle

Yarn Thickness: 3mm
Gauge: 5dc=1"
Finished Size: 7&189;" x 4"
Skill Level: Beginner to intermediate

Instructions
RND 1: Ch40. 4dc in 4th ch from hook. This counts as a ch3 and 4dc to make up a shell. *Sk 2 chs. Sc in next ch. Sk 2 chs. 5dc in next ch. Rep from * across ending with 5dc in last chain. Now you will work on the other side of the chain. Work sc in same ch as sc on first side. *Work 5 dc in next same next ch as 5dc of first side. Sc in next same ch as next sc on first side. Rep from * across to where you started. Slst to top of ch3 of foundation chain.

RND 2: Slst into each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. Sc in same st. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. *Sc in next dc. 5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc.

RND 3: Ch3. 4dc in same st as slst. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next st. *5dc in next sc. Sk 2 dc. Sc in next dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to top of ch3.

RND 4-11: Repeat RNDs 2 & 3 consecutively.

RND 12: Slst into each of the next 2 dc. Ch1. Sc in same st. Hdc in each of the next 2 dc. Dc in next sc. Hdc in each of the next 2 dc. *Sc in next dc. Hdc in each of the next 2 dc. Dc in next sc. Hdc in each of the next 2 dc. Rep from * around. Join w/slst to first sc. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Finishing: Turn work inside out. Stitch hook and loop tape to upper edge using the sewing thread and an over cast stitch on the edges of the hook and loop tape.
