Stacked Bobbles Cat Afghan

Image of Stacked Bobbles Cat Afghan Designed By Julie A. Bolduc

This afghan is a perfect afghan for beginners to make! It introduces the 3dc bobble. You can adjust the size to what ever you want. No need to make it for just kitty cats! I am tempted to call this a Cat's Ghan! Say it fast! haha!

Yarn Thickness: 4mm
Gauge: 7bl=4",
Finished Size: 18" x 20"
Skill Level: Beginner

Special Stitch: 3dc bobble, bl: Yo, insert hook in stitch indicated, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook 3 times, yo, pull through 4 loops on hook.

Instructions
ROW 1: Ch62. Sc on the back bump of each ch across. Ch1, turn. This produces a finished edge that is easy to stitch when you are working on the perimeter.

ROW 2: Sc in first sc. *Ch1. Sk 1 sc. Sc in next sc. Rep from * across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 3: Bobble in next ch1 sp. Ch1. Rep from * across until you bl in the last ch1 sp. Dc in last sc. Ch1, turn.

ROW 4: Sc in first ch 1 sp. *Ch1. Sc in next ch1 sp. Rep from * across. Ch3, turn.

ROW 5-42: Repeat Rows 3 and 4 nineteen times more.

ROW 43 or last ROW: Sc in each sc and in each ch1 sp across. Fasten off and weave ends into back of work.

Perimeter
Join 2nd color to same st as fastening off. Work 1 sc per sc row and 2dc per dc row down the left side and up the right side. Ch1 to turn each corner. Sc in each sc across the bottom and the top row. When you get back to the beginning, join w/slst to first sc.

To make this afghan any size, just start with an even number in your foundation row. Then repeat ROWs 2 and 3 until you reach the desired length, then finish it using the last row and perimeter instructions. You will need one 7oz skein of worsted weight yarn for every 18" x 20" of afghan size. Or 360 square inches. For example, if you want to make an afghan for a baby that is 3 feet by 4 feet then you would use the following formula: 36" x 48" =1728" / 360" = 4.8 so you would need 35oz of worsted weight yarn or 5 skeins 7oz each.
